Closing Out 2013

I've gotten to the point that I am so far behind that it is impeding my desire to blog more recent events ,so I decided it is time for me to get caught up.

In September I ran my first half marathon.  It was a blast.  The race was a DIVA half marathon in the Washington, D.C. area.  My favorite part was actually the training for it and the great friend I made in the process.  2 hour training runs pass really fast when you talk the whole time.  :-)  The race itself was a little frustrating at the beginning, until we got onto wider roads and out of the pack.  Then it was a blast with perfect weather, beautiful scenery, and fun spectators cheering us on.  I can't wait to run another race.

B ran cross country this fall.  This was the first time he'd run cross country since 8th grade.  Due to some technical difficulties with the camera, I only have pictures from his first race of the season.  (Bummed because I had some great candids of him after one of his races.)  He made his goal at the end of the season with 3 miles in 18 minutes flat.)

C played volleyball for her first time and did a great job.  She was so sure she wasn't going to make the time and I was so worried for her, that when she called me to tell me she'd made it (I was out shopping when she found out) I almost cried in the store.  She did a great job, learned a ton, and had lots of fun.

We celebrated Halloween with a Greek Goddess and a squaw, both of which designed and created their own costumes.

B was inducted in to National Honor Society.

We had a dear family friend come to visit for Thanksgiving and we visited the Intrepid Air and Space Museum in the city.

 We loved touring the submarine,

seeing the Enterprise,
 and all of the planes.
We thought the lego scale model of the Intrepid was really cool.

One morning we discovered that our Christmas decorations looked really cool when viewed through C's prism glasses.

We ventured into the cold and ice to spend Christmas with B and L in "The North Country".

It was a great time even if the sledding was a little dangerous.

Playing guitar hero and hanging out in the hot tub was lots of fun.

Grandparents were there too.  My only regret was not taking more/better pictures.  We were having too much fun to remember to get out the camera.

Fun times, great pictures. B's form has really improved and I love the ones of C. Great costumes too.
