Happy 4th

We spent our 4th doing our traditional 4th of July activities. First, we watched R march in the Highland Falls Parade. (The Candy parade, as P calls it. The kids always come home with enough candy to fill a sandwich size ziplock bag each.) Here are the kids lined up with some of our neighborhood friends, waiting for the parade to start. (B is in the back in the orange shirt, C is in the middle with the hat and P is in the front with the red bow.)
Many of the same things are in the parade every year. I love the old MP car. They led off the parade this year.
And here's the band.
R is playing snare drum.
There were cute little floats.
Some old cars.
And some Revolutionary War re-enactors.
The Parade ended with this guy. (Isn't he supposed to be at the end of the Thanksgiving day parade? Oh well. We all had a good laugh and thought it was great.)

After the parade we came home, grabbed our food, and headed to Trophy Point for the annual concert and fireworks. We met up with our friends and hung out together for the evening.
Before the concert the girls had fun playing on the cannons.

The sea of uniforms in front of the stage is the over 1000 new cadets who showed up here on Monday and have just finished their first week of cadet basic training.

And as is the tradition, the concert ended with Tchaikowsky's 1812 Overture and a great Fireworks Display. Sorry, no pictures of that because my camera doesn't take night pictures.
