Jamaica Part 2

Tuesday morning we woke up and were ready to jump right in and get started doing all of the fun stuff.  We started the morning Kayaking.  We had grand allusions of Kayaking up to the far end of the beach (we were in the middle of what is called 7 mile beach).  That didn't happen.  Battling even a little wind and waves was hard work.  So, we got some great pictures of the resort from the water, and then decided that we could check the Kayaking box and wouldn't need to do that any more this trip.
We took a quick lesson on the Hobie Cats but had to wait until some wind came up after lunch before we could go out sailing.
We had a blast.  The technique in tacking was a little different than what I was used to from sailing our boat when I was growing up.  Since the hobie cat is so light, it took a little finesse so as not to stall out, especially on the tack where we were traveling more into the waves.  Sometimes we'd just about make it around and then a wave would knock us back the wrong direction so we'd have to try again.  R basically went along for the ride and left all of the sailing up to me which was fine.  One person can easily sail it since it is just a main sail.  We were out for over 1.5 hours and had a great time.  Basically they let you sail where ever you want for as long as you want so we sailed most of the way up the beach (into the wind) and then came back.  We don't have any pictures from our sailing trips because we didn't take the camera.  It was much too wet, we basically got soaked over and over again but the water is the temperature of a bath tub and it is so hot outside that you don't even care.  It was wonderful!

We also attended a couples massage class that afternoon and learned proper technique and order for giving a back massage.  Also fun.

We also took our one and only dip in a pool Tuesday afternoon.  On our way to the pool we found this guy.
Then I rescued this little guy from the water, carrying it around on my finger for a while, until R was ready to get out of the pool.  It is the smallest lady buy I had ever seen.
(In case you're wondering, the reason we never made it back to the pools was:  1.  Their lack of shade...one had no shade near it and the other one had a little shade but also had the swim up pool bar so it tended to be a little loud, not rowdy, just loud.  2.  We can swim in pools at home, if we wanted to get in the water, we wanted to get in the ocean, and it was easier to find shade at the beach... lots of palm trees.)

This afternoon, (and every afternoon) we enjoyed getting to eat an afternoon snack at one of the two grills and watching the water and the people walking the beach or floating in the ocean.

Tuesday night we had a delicious dinner at one of the reservation restaurants where our assistant waiter took this picture of us.
That is about the most sun kissed we got our whole trip.  When we went out sailing, I did a poor job of applying sunscreen and missed a spot on the back of my shoulder that then ended up pretty red, and since R burns in a full moon, we did all that we could to minimize our time in the sun.

Tuesday night we ventured into the piano bar and discovered our favorite evening activity.  The pianist, who goes by Ultimate Chocolate, is amazing and can play anything from memory.  You can find videos of him on you tube.  Here is a good one to check out.  Just sort of skip through it and see if you can catch his piano solo.  He plays from 7 to 9pm almost every night.  The first hour is live karaokee.  They have spiral song books with just the words and people make requests and everyone sings, passing around the microphone during the song.  (As shown in the video.) Then the last hour is Name That Tune with the "Ladies" vs. the "Big Boys".  It was so much fun and definitely our kind of crowd.
(to be continued...)
