MONDAY: Dinner at Feathers (one of the reservation required restaurants.)
Appetizer: Sesame Encrusted Tuna with mashed peas.
Roasted Cauliflower Soup (R ate seafood bisque but it was just brown...not an exciting picture.)
The salads were so delicious looking, we forgot to take a picture before we dove in. My Mixed baby greens.
R's Organic Spinach
We both had to have the Lamb Loin with Calalloo. So Yummy.
TUESDAY
Breakfast at Patios (Pronounced Pa'-twa-s)
Granola and Tropical Fruit with Honey Lime Yogurt.
Fresh Fruit Plate with Pineapple, Watermelon, Orange, Honey Dew, and Papaya.
Caribbean Eggs Benedict with Marlin and Calalloo. (Forgot to take the picture before I dove in ...again. It was delicious. Calalloo is a green that they cook up with bell peppers and other things...so yummy.
Banana Stuffed French Toast.
Lunch at the Sea Grapes grill.
Fish Tacos
Sweet Potato Chips with Pumpkin Jalepeno dip and black bean humus. We thought the pumpkin jalepeno dip was amazing.
And more yummy fresh fruit.
Dinner at Lemon Grass, the other reservation required restaurant.
Appetizer Sampler (Spring Rolls, Grilled Tofu, Lamb Kabobs, Chicken Drumsticks, Won Tons, and Veggie Rolls.)
I had Pan Fried Snapper in a red curry sauce.
R had Chicken Pad Thai.
For Dessert R had White Chocolate Cheesecake
And I tried the Ginger Creme Brulee. It was sweet and bitter at the same time...not my favorite but still worth trying.
WEDNESDAY:
Breakfast at the Buffet. We went there because on Wednesday and Sunday mornings they serve Jamaica's national dish...Ackee and Salt Fish. (The item that looks like scrambled eggs.) It had just a touch of spice to it and was absolutely delicious. I wish we could have eaten it more than once. We also had more Calalloo (the greens) a fried dumpling (kind of like a donut but more dense and less sweet but very yummy) and fried Plantains, so yummy. We've fried plantains at home before but can never get them this caramelized because our plantains are never ripe enough.
A fresh fruit salad.
Lunch at the Pool Grill:
Ting (a yummy grapefruit soda that is only slightly fizzy.)
Coleslaw and Beef Patties and Chicken Patties. (This is half a patty.)
Dinner at Patois:
Appetizer - Anise Glazed Muscles (interesting but not my favorite) And Cuban Crab Potatoes Au Gratin.
Pumpkin Soup that was delicious and a little bit spicy.
Pork Tandori Salad.
Pimento spiced Chicken Pizza.
Blackened Catch of the Day.
Warm Banana Walnut Bread Pudding with Caramel Toffee Sauce....yummy.
THURSDAY
Breakfast at Patios:
Cornmeal Waffles with Cherry syrup.
Seafood Omelet and fried potatoes.
Lunch at Sea Grapes Grill
Jamaican Sushi - A smoked Marlin Spring Roll. I did not like this one but R did.
Snapper Sandwich - Same idea as the fish taco but on a delicious bun with tarter sauce.
Dinner at Patios
Cream of Spinach Soup.
Greens with Citrus, pine nuts, goat cheese, and Basil dressing. So good!
Sugar Cane and Soy marinated strip loin with mofongo mash and caramelized onions. Mmmmm.
Seafood Calzone that R absolutely loved. It had muscles, shrimp, and scallops.
Breakfast on Friday at the Buffet:
Clockwise - Cheese and Basil baked tomato, corned beef hash (yummy), Fried Bread fruit (tasted like bread but more dense and kind of dry even when dipped in syrup since it doesn't absorb syrup like bread does), fried plantains again, sugar cane, and fresh coconut.
R had much of the same but a seafood omelet again.
Lunch was at the Sea Grapes grill again with us eating some of our favorite things like the snapper sandwich and the sweet potato chips.
Dinner was back at Feathers, one of the reservation restaurants.
Appetizer: Fried Calamari
Ackee and Shrimp Bruschetta.
Plantain Corn Chowder that is crying because he is about to get eaten.
She Crab Bisque.
Mixed Baby Greens.
Sauteed Tiger Shrimp and Sea Scallops with delicious Jasmine Rice and Calalloo.
Beef Tenderloin.
Minted Lime Pana cotta on grilled pineapple with a raspberry sauce...R's favorite desert from the week.
Pear Creme Brulee with toasted Coconut....my favorite desert of the week, it was so rich I couldn't finish it....the best creme brulee ever.
Saturday morning we ate in the buffet one more time before we had to get on the bus. It was our last chance to eat yummy fried plantains, fruit, and honey lime yogurt with granola.
One thing we will surely miss about Jamaica.... the yummy food.
