Jamaica Part 3

Wednesday morning we were schedule to go snorkeling but the waves were pretty big and the wind was blowing so we skipped out on snorkeling to go sailing again instead.  It was perfect and we once again had a great time.  This time we got to see the other half of the beach since the wind was blowing the opposite direction so we headed into the wind but down the beach this time.

After lunch we had fun attending a Salsa dance class.  R had the best rhythm in the class, but I would expect nothing less from him.  It was fun and we are far from experts now but at least we know a little bit.

Late in the afternoon we headed out on the catamaran cruise.  Some people call it the booze cruise because the rum punch is free flowing, but it was a great way to see some of the coast of Jamaica.

Here is our resort from the catamaran as we sailed away.  (Except we weren't really sailing...we were doing the San Juan Island Sailing thing...Jib up and motor on...there really wasn't any wind.)
We saw lots of resorts, and one that even looked like a Medieval Castle.
We also saw some people's houses.
As we traveled along the coast, we got a peek into what life is like for some of the people who live in Jamaica.  We also saw this on our bus ride to and from the resort and each time it made me a little sad.  Some of the people live in very humble circumstances and I got a little emotional thinking about what the money R and I spent to stay 5 days in their country, would mean to one of those families.

The geography was quite stunning.  The south side of Jamaica has no beaches but instead, has these amazing cliffs and caves.
We stopped at one of the caves on the way back.  Some young kids were jumping from the cliffs, into the water...it was a long way down.
We got to jump off of the catamaran and swim into this cave.  Once you were inside, it got shallow enough to stand up and you could even get out of the water in places.  We swam in on the left and out at that really low looking area on the right.  It actually is so huge, even though it doesn't look it in the pictures,  the top of the very low looking cave on the right is probably still 4 feet above the water line.
The catamaran had a slide so R joined in with several other people in sliding off of the catamaran and dropping about 8 feet into the water.
On the way back, we enjoyed the beginning of the sunset and a rainbow created by the afternoon showers that just missed us and fell in the mountains.
Wednesday evening we enjoyed another wonderful dinner and singing in the piano bar.
(to be continued...again.)
