The Last 4 months - Visiting D.C.

Our very dear friend/former West Point cadet was getting married in D.C. memorial day weekend so we took the kids out of school a day early and traveled down to be there for the special event.  One of the great things about living so close to D.C. and having friends and family that have lived in the area has been getting to see so many of the sights over the years.

One thing we hadn't done yet was visit Mt. Vernon so that was what we did on this trip.

What a fun place to visit.  We spent about 4 hours there on Friday and enjoyed seeing the gardens,

touring the house,

meeting Mrs. Washington,

walking the grounds and looking in several of the buildings,

and visiting the farm area.

It was also a privilege to see Washington's tomb.

Saturday was the wedding at the Washington D.C. temple, followed by a dinner/reception in the area.

The sealing was beautiful and the reception was lovely and fun.  R was asked to share a few thoughts and we had fun recalling what B has meant to our family over the years and how perfect S is for him.  We felt a bit like we were watching our younger brother get married.  It was a wonderful day.  S made the girls' day when she gave her bouquet to C and B's boutonniere to P.

Great memories. We didn't get to see Mrs. Washington when we were there. Maybe she was off with him someplace.
