June

This was a busy month with some major milestones.

First, C had her 8th grade promotion dance.

Then, she was chosen along with about 5 other students to create the art work for their Legacy Wall at school.  She was thrilled to get out of some classes and put her artistic talent to use.

C also had her 8th grade promotion.  (One funny story related to this.  When it came time to order gowns, I had C go try on B's old gown because I thought maybe she could just use his and we wouldn't have to buy a new one.  C is not tall, only about 5'1" and we knew that B used to be short, but we didn't remember how short until C tried on his old gown and it only came just below her knees.  C is never going to be tall but at least she is taller than her brother was at the end of 8th grade.)

 Here are C and her best friend in front of the Legacy Wall.  Everyone in the class signed their name.  C's name is the one at the very top of the number 1.

Some old friends from Texas came to visit and we had fun spending a day in NYC with them.
We visited ground zero and saw the new Freedom Tower.

 They kids posed in a statue on the grounds of Trinity Church.

 We also visited Federal Hall, the first location of our national government when NYC was the capitol.

 It was here that George Washington took the oath of office to become our first President.

 Right across the street was the New York Stock Exchange.

 We walked through part of Central Park.  Some of us had fun catching turtles...

 while others rowed around the lake.

 We made a stop at Macys so our friends could ride the old wooden escalators.

 And we ended the day in Time Square so that we could see the lights and eat a piece of our favorite cheesecake from Juniors.

B attended his High School prom but went with a group of friends since the girl he was going to ask couldn't go.  (Prom was the same weekend as the State Track meet and some of the girls from the High School track team were competing at state.)  He wouldn't let me take any pictures since I had already taken his picture for Mormon Prom, so here is a picture of him with some of his friends goofing around with in the photo booth.

The big event of the month was B's High School graduation.

 We loved how his pictures turned out, lots of great ones but these two were our favorite.  I love his expression in this second one.  It is a total B look.

 Family came to town to help us celebrate.

 And the girls had fun making him a cake.
