This year's 4th of July concert included some special guests, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. We've known for almost 9 months that they would be performing with the band on the 4th of July but it was a secret that not even the choir members were told. (Both the choir and the academy wanted it kept a secret. The choir was out here doing a tour and performing in NYC and another local venue so they did not want the performance here to effect their ticket sales for those other concerts. The academy didn't want their performance advertised because the normal 4th of July concert already draws capacity crowds.)
It was fun to walk past Trophy Point during the week and see all of the construction taking place. There were light, camera, and speaker towers being built as well as an addition on the front of the stage and all of the risers and chairs for the choir. (The choir filled the normal stage so they had to build a stage in front of that area for the band and orchestra.) I wish I would have taken pictures of all of all of the towers. It was pretty impressive and our whole community was wondering what was going on.
The choir finally found out where they were going when they got on the buses on the morning of the 4th. Before that, all they knew was that they were performing somewhere and for contractual reasons could not be told where. While they were on the buses, yhey had to learn some of the music that they would sing because if they would have been given the music to learn before the tour, they would have figured out where they were going.

The concert was amazing and such a fun experience. A 4th of July to remember.
